The tournament started out in perfect weather conditions but the last day was brutal. The wind was
howling (like 20-30) and the temperture was in the 60s. Laurie Johnson prevailed winning the 2011 State
Amateur Championship at Silverstone Golf Club. Sarah Bowmen is the Nevada State
Amateur Net Champion. Sarah shot a sizzling 72 the second day of the event to propel her to the title.

The tournament started out in perfect weather conditions but the last day was brutal. The wind was howling (like 20-30) and the temperture was in the 60s. Laurie Johnson prevailed winning the 2011 State Amateur Championship at Silverstone Golf Club. This win concluded a very impressive golf year for her ending with her induction into the Southern Nevada Golf Hall of Fame on Nov 5. Penny Schilling is the Nevada State Senior Amateur Net Champion having beaten Sarah Bowmen in a playoff. The gross flight winners were Sarah Bowman, Larren Buckley and Doe Emes. The net flight winners were Lisa Stanley, Sherry Mesecher and Alice Bales.

| Silver Cup Final Results |
The 2011 Silver Cup Matches were recently contested at Thunder Canyon Golf Club. As always, this event is a favorite among women of Nevada and this year was no different. Each team came to the matches prepared to do battle on the course and to have an opportunity to re-connect with old friends as well as make new ones. The NNWGA team jumped out to an early lead, 6-4, in the foursome matches and followed up with 6 additional points in the four-ball format. This left the WSNGA team with some serious work to do in the singles matches the final day. 20 matches went out the final morning and in the end, the NNWGA team was victorious!
Hospitality abounded with the NNWGA providing a team of volunteers, (aka princesses), to provide snacks on the first tee and encouragement to all as the players teed off each day. Sandy Hardesty offered her home for the opening social where we all had great fun catching up with each other and enjoyed a fabulous meal.
The Silver Cup Matches are truly a premier event in Nevada. We all are looking forward to the 2012 event!
